Hail Damage to Siding: Is It Covered?
Published
Siding damage often gets left out of roof claims simply because nobody looked. If hail hit your roof, check the walls.

What hail does to vinyl
Impact cracks the panel, often in a distinctive circular or crescent pattern. Cold panels crack more easily, so late-season and early-spring hail does more siding damage than summer hail of the same size.
What adjusters look for
Directional damage consistent with the storm's approach, cracks that aren't weathered at the edges, and corresponding damage to soft metals and window screens on the same elevation.
Matching
If a discontinued profile can't be matched, some policies require replacement of the full elevation or the full wall. That's a valuable provision worth reading in your policy before accepting a partial payout.
Documentation
Photograph each damaged panel with a scale reference. Note the elevation. This detail is what turns a disputed siding line item into an approved one.
If any of this applies to your own home, our siding installation crews handle it every week, and you can see how we work in your area on our Troy, Ohio roofing page. Inspections and written estimates are free either way — call 937-749-7767.
